HORIZONS ASIA

WHAT WE DO

The fruit of efforts in Hong Kong is undeniable. Today, there are dozens of churches trained in engaging their Muslim neighbors. A continuous flow of Asian interns and missionaries travel to serve in Lebanon. Horizon International Asia has catalyzed a broader gospel movement in East and Southeast Asia.

What’s next? More.

Our vision is to multiply trained churches across East Asia to effectively reach Muslims. We intend to expand outreach in Malaysia, Taiwan, and unreached Central Asian nations and raise up a new generation of Asian missionaries serving globally. We also will continue building this important regional missions hub from Hong Kong, even in the face of political shifts.

BACKGROUND

For nearly 25 years, Hong Kong has been the regional hub for Horizons International Asia and the launch pad for regional outreach to Malaysia, Taiwan, and other Central Asian countries. The primary focus of HI Asia is equipping and mobilizing local churches in Hong Kong to evangelize Muslims.

An influx of Muslim migrants from Pakistan, India, and Malaysia has spurred a sharp rise in Islamic influence throughout Hong Kong. With the Muslim population continuing to grow at a rapid pace, Horizons International Asia promotes and hosts events to help equip the church with a better understanding of how to reach and engage with Muslims.

Although Hong Kong’s 7 million people are predominantly secular or Buddhist, nearly 300,000 Muslims are present and need to hear the gospel. Our leaders promote outreach to this population through a variety of approaches, including mobilizing the Church and training them for Muslim outreach, engaging in street evangelism, curating online discipleship and educational content, and participating in intern and missionary exchange programs with Horizons Lebanon.

To promote and encourage the HI Asia team, please pray for our leaders, their local support team and regional trainers, and interns and missionaries.

Pray for their continued boldness and freedom as political tension increases.

Pray for their courage while they enter areas where the gospel is rarely heard or is received with grave reservations.

Pray for their ability to start conversations and build bridges with Muslim neighbors.

Pray for more trainers, speakers, and cross-cultural workers to support Engaging Islam efforts. Pray for strategic partnerships with Asian churches for regional gospel expansion.
