HORIZONS TURKEY
WHAT WE DO
Turkish-speaking people comprise one of the largest groups of people in the world unreached with the gospel. Turkey has a population of 85 million people, 82 percent of whom are Muslim. By contrast, just 2 percent of Turkey’s population is Christian.
A number of Turkish Muslim-background believers have dedicated themselves to evangelizing, discipling, and developing leaders within this group. Significant Turkish-speaking populations also reside in countries like Germany, as well as in the Balkans, due to immigration and historical ties.
Horizons Turkiyë is developing partnerships with local churches and regional outreach partners to train new believers in biblical theology, spiritual growth, and church leadership. Through these important relationships, Horizons is equipping the Western Church to reach Muslim Turks.
We’ve seen new believers baptized, an active local church reaching both urban and rural communities, ongoing leadership development and mentorship for Turkish believers, and strengthening of Turkish-speaking churches globally through resources and structure.
Every day this partnership of believers and supporting organizations ensures activities essential to expanding and developing the church in Turkey continue.
Disciple believers to become future leaders. Turkey Lighthouse Church continues to be a center of worship, baptism, sound teaching, and community outreach. Evangelists in villages present the gospel and follow-up discipleship.
Train leaders to grow and be equipped in biblical theology. Our bible training center facilitates education for leaders and new believers. Christian summer camps for children and youth provide our next generation fun and learning opportunities.
Mentor and counsel believers to better serve their country/city/church. We offer Turkish-language resources for churches and individuals and serve as a connection hub for Turkish believers globally.
Beyond today, we are excited about growing the Turkey Lighthouse Church into a hub for regional multiplication. We are eager to raise up and equip more Turkish leaders and church planters. We see the promise of building a network of Turkish-speaking believers across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. As Christians, we want to strengthen the bridge between Western churches and the Turkish church for shared mission and vision.
Biblical Tours
Turkey has a venerable history in the early Church. Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea–the seven churches mentioned in Revelation–as well as Antioch and Tarsus, were located in Anatolia, which forms the bulk of present-day Turkey.
Horizons Turkey can assist in organizing biblical tours and mission trips across Turkey and Europe.
As you pray about sharing the gospel in Turkey, please know that government restrictions on Christian evangelism and gatherings continue to grow. Also, pray for believers here who face social isolation, job loss, or family rejection for their faith. Pray that we receive needed financial and prayer support for village outreach, training events, and church planting. Pray that volunteers or interns come forward to help with camps, evangelism, translation, and logistics. Pray for Western churches to adopt and support Turkish congregations and leaders and that we can receive even more Turkish-language biblical content and discipleship tools. Thank you.
